As outlined in the article by Power & Beyond, titled “Conduits of Connection: The Central Role of Bus Bars in Electronics,” bus bars play a critical role in electrical power distribution systems across industries, especially in high-demand environments like multi-story buildings.

Bus bars are solid-state conductors made primarily of copper or aluminum. They have been a core component of power infrastructure for over 150 years and are widely used in switchboards, distribution panels, and power systems. While they don’t step voltage up or down like transformers, bus bars are vital because they efficiently distribute large amounts of electrical current with low resistance and minimal power loss.
